The House is conveniently located within the village. Due to its position there are no overlooking properties and road traffic cannot be seen or heard. There is a small local shop, post office and a traditional pub with evening meals and live music on weekends nearby. The world famous Talisker Distillery (with a visitor centre, shop and tours) is opened for visitors all year round and is just 200 meters down the road.

It only takes 5 minutes (by car) to get to the Cuillins and Fairy Pools, 10 minutes to Glenbrittle Beach.

Portree, the Island's main village is a 25 minute drive. There is also bus service 3 times daily to Portree and a convenient local Taxi service.

Getting there:

By Car:

From Glasgow - taking the A82 by Loch Lomond, through Glen Coe and Fort Williamand on to Invergarry.

From the East of the country - from Edinburgh take the M90/A9 after the Forth Road Bridge. Continue past Perth following signs for Inverness untill Dalwhinnie. Take a left turn onto the A889 then A86 to Spean Bridge. Turn right on to the A82 to Invergarry.

From Invergarry, take the A87. After crossing the Skye Bridge continue on the A87 through Broadford and on to Sligachan. Turn left before Sligachan Hotel on to the A863 signposted to Dunvegan. After about 7 miles take the left turn for Carbost on the B8009, continue on the single track until you almost reach the Village Shop in Carbost.

The Boat Lodge Gates are 20 meters before the little red roofed shop and on the right down at the sea shore.

By Railway:

There are two ways to reach Isle of Skye by train, both journeys are highly scenic:

From Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, or

From Fort William to Mallaig then taking the ferry across

By Aeroplane:

The nearest airport to the Isle of Skye is at Dalcross, Inverness, which is 2,5 - 3 hr drive away. Car rental from the airport can be arranged.

By Ferry:

There are two car ferry services to the Isle of Skye:

The Mallaig to Armadale Ferry. From Armadale follow the A851 until you reach the A87, take a left turn on to it and go through Broadford, keep going untill you reach Sligachan. Turn left before Sligachan Hotelon to the A863 signposted for Dunvegan. After about 7 miles take the left turn for Carbost on the B8009, continue on the single track until you almost reach the Village Shop in Carbost. The Glenelg to Kylerhea Ferry. From Kylerhea follow the road until you reach the A87, turn left and follow the above route. The Glenelg ferry only operates from Easter to October.
